Oxford University’s Matthew Walton has completed a review for JCA that is just out at the Journal’s website.
Reviewing Adam Simpson’s Energy, Governance and Security in Thailand and Myanmar (Burma): A Critical Approach to Environmental Politics in the South, Walton says that the book “comprehensively presents some of the most prominent recent environmental campaigns in Myanmar and Thailand while also contributing theoretically to the study of environmental movements under different political regimes and developing the concept of emancipatory environmental activism.”
Simpson is Director of the Centre for Peace and Security at the Hawke Research Institute at the University of South Australia.
Walton has recently published “The ‘Wages of Burman-ness:’ Ethnicity and Burman Privilege in Contemporary Myanmar” with the Journal of Contemporary Asia.
