A new article entitled “The Struggle for Revitalisation by Japanese Labour Unions: Worker Organising after Labour-Market Deregulation,” has posted to the JCA website. It is authored by Hiroaki Richard Watanabe of the University of Sheffield.
This article analyses the decline of Japanese labour unions under pressure of neoliberalisation and deregulation. It examines intensified conflicts of interest among unions and their reduced access to policy-making. It also discusses attempts by labour to revitalise through organising non-regular and marginalised regular workers, including by community unions.
