Vietnam’s politics

Politics in Contemporary Vietnam: Party, State and Authority Relations is a new book edited by Jonathan London at City University of Hong Kong. The collection is published by Palgrave Macmillan.London

Arve Hansen, from the Centre for Development and the Environment, University of Oslo, has reviewed the collection at JCA, with the review appearing at the website (DOI: 10.1080/00472336.2015.1046322). He notes the dearth of material on Vietnam’s contemporary politics.

While noting some gaps in the book, Hansen concludes that the chapters “complement each other nicely and together form a strong contribution to the field.” He considers London’s introductory and concluding chapters useful in bringing the collection together. Hansen observes that “the introduction should in its own right serve as a good start or update on Vietnam for students and professional readers alike.”
