We are saddened to report the passing of Professor Lee Poh Ping of the Institute of China Studies at the University of Malaya.
Poh Ping graduated with a First Class Honours degree in History from the University of Malaya in 1967. He went on to obtain a PhD in government from Cornell University.
He was appointed a lecturer in the University of Malaya and attained a professorship in 1992. He retired in 1997, he subsequently served as a Professor and Principal Fellow at the Institute of Malaysian and International Studies (IKMAS). In 2009, he returned to the University of Malaya and the Institute of China Studies.
Poh Ping was an avid reader of JCA, and in recent years published the following articles:

Poh Ping was a learned scholar and a great colleague. He will be greatly missed.
